How to Make Boba Tea
Friday 3:00 PM
Learn how to make milk tea & boba! To participate have the following:
- Brown Sugar
- Tapioca Starch
- Black Tea Bags
- Powdered Coffee Creamer (Coffee Mate)
Full Recipe:
7 cups of water
1 Lipton gallon tea bag
10 Tbsp Coffee Mate powdered creamer
10 Tbsp sugar
1. Boil 7 cups of water. Steep 1 Lipton gallon tea bag in the water for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in 10 Tbsp creamer and 10 Tbsp sugar. Mix well.
3. Let milk tea cool at room temperature for 30 minutes. Refrigerate until cold.
Homemade Boba
Ingredients:
100g tapioca starch
65g boiling water
40g brown sugar
*measure ahead of time
Steps:
1. Combine boiling water and brown sugar into a small saucepan and stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil.
2. Take pan off heat and add a spoonful of tapioca starch. Mix to combine.
3. Put saucepan back on low, stirring continuously.
4. Once mixture is thickened, take off heat and pour the mixture into the bowl of remaining tapioca starch.
5. Mix until incorporated then dump onto a lightly “floured” (with starch) surface.
6. Knead with your hands until boba dough is soft and no longer sticky.
7. Cut dough into fourths, working with 1/4 at a time. Cover the other pieces with Saran Wrap.
8. Roll each quarter into a long skinny rope and cut into small boba pieces. Boba will expand when cooked so cut smaller than you think.
9. Roll each piece into a small ball. Put boba balls in a bowl of tapioca starch to keep them separated.
10. Repeat with the other quarter pieces.
11. Once boba is made, bring a large saucepan of water to a boil.
12. Add boba to boiling water and stir, making sure they don’t stick to the bottom.
13. Bring boba to a soft boil. (Boba should float to the top)
14. Cover saucepan and cook on medium heat for 20 min.
15. Turn off heat and let boba sit for an additional 10 min with the lid on.
